| Lamborghini dealership coming to Sarasota
| With only 30 other Lamborghini dealerships in the U.S. and a total of 60 in the world, it is no surprise that the new Sarasota dealership is generating a buzz even in a down economy. Prices start at nearly $200,000 and rise from there, depending on the model and the details the buyer desires. Ordering a Lamborghini with special features requires a $50,000 deposit.

| Tampa Bay real estate still threatened by rising rates, Florida unemployment
| After three years being stuck on this housing slide, we're all feeling frayed in the seat of our pants. Enough of this chute. When can we scale the ladder again? Unfortunately for Tampa Bay real estate, the lift of improving home sales must overcome the gravity of a lousy economy. As we enter mid-year, the housing market remains unsettled.

| Home short sale flips nixed
| It may be a bit tougher now for investors to flip short sales for big profits. Attorneys' Title Insurance Fund notified its 6,000 member lawyers this week that it will not insure deals made with a popular - but controversial - method for closing flips of short sales. A short sale occurs when a mortgage holder agrees to allow a home to sell for less than the mortgage balance so that foreclosure can be avoided.

| Orlando area tourist-tax revenue headed for a record drop
| Tourist-tax revenues will plummet 18 percent in 2009 and not fully recover for several years, Orange County budget officials said Tuesday, adding the drop will affect everything from tourism promotion to the $1.1 billion plan for downtown arts and sports venues. If the drop actually is that steep, it would be the worst fall-off in tourist-tax receipts ever, easily eclipsing the 12.6 percent decline that followed the Sept. 11, 2001 terror attacks.

| Over 1,500 Chicago employees to get layoff notices today
| More than 1,500 city employees -- 400 more than anticipated -- will receive layoff notices today, one day after union leaders boycotted Mayor Daley's 11th-hour appeal for shared sacrifice over job cuts. Uniformed police officers and firefighters will again be exempt from the July 15 cuts, forcing the ax to fall heavily on two housekeeping departments: Streets and Sanitation (323) and Water Management (295).

| Inflation Is Nothing Compared To The Cure
| You'd be a fool not to be on guard for an inflationary debacle, but the real pain comes with the necessary rate hikes to kick it.

| The State of Real Estate in Puerto Vallarta - Summer 2009
| It is official. The "wait and see" attitude has changed to "get 'er done." While last winter we all faced the slide of the US stock and world markets and their jittery aftermath, then held our breath while we waited to see what was going to be its effects on the Puerto Vallarta real estate market, we are now seeing the resuscitation of that market. However, this is not without many lessons being learned. It is a new paradigm out there as many can attest to.
