| What if you're having Realtor trouble?
| When a real estate transaction turns out badly, a seller or buyer often looks to one of the Realtors involved to blame. Buyer's remorse and simple poor judgement -- buying an investment property at the height of 2004-06 boom -- aside, the region's associations of Realtors have a system to handle ethics complaints or requests for an arbitration hearings.

| The ins and outs of short sales
| Many of us have now become familiar with the term “short sale” in the context of the current real estate market. For those less familiar, this is a transaction where the seller agrees to sell the property for less than the balance owed on the seller’s mortgage. This is subject to the approval of all lien holders on the property, to the short payoff and release of the lien encumbering the property to enable the seller to deliver clear title to the buyer.

| Empty storefronts are echo of Hernando County housing boom
| On the surface, new businesses continue to arrive, albeit at a slower pace than a few years ago. With a new Publix coming on County Line Road, a new Target on Spring Hill Drive, HHGregg taking over the Circuit City building and Five Guys Burgers and Fries opening on Cortez Boulevard, it might seem that all is well. But that's not the case. So why so many empty storefronts? And why now?

| Tax policy for better and worse
| On June 1, a Toronto bylaw came into force that requires city businesses to begin charging 5˘ for single-use plastic bags. While technically not a tax, as the revenues from the bag fee can be kept by the retailer, the imposition of even a small fee has already begun changing consumer behaviour - and not just in Toronto. Montreal-based grocery giant Metro announced that the distribution of single-use grocery bags decreased by 70% at Metro grocery stores across Quebec and Ontario only four weeks after implementing a 5˘ plastic bag charge, while demand for reusable bags has increased by 500%.
